What rock do I use for a new driveway? ::
 

3/4" or 1" roadbase are great. They compact down so it doesn't all get plowed up in the winter when snow is being removed. A good base to start is 4" thick. You can always also consider a concrete or asphalt driveway too.

What rock do I use for an existing driveway? ::
 

1" screen or pea rock will work if your driveway doesn't get plowed. If you plan on plowing your driveway, you'll need 3/4" roadbase, 1" roadbase or recycled asphalt, which all compact and won't get removed with the snow when plowed.

  1" roadbase is perfect for potholes.

What rock do I use for a foundation under a concrete slab? ::
 

1" Screen or Pea Rock. Plan for approximately a 2" layer of rock under your slab.

Leech field spec material is 1 1/2" washed rock. For a septic field, concrete sand is spec for that project.
